Within the online world there is a herd mentality where everyone follows each other trying to see what is working for others so they can copy this for themselves to cash in. But is the herd being purposely led (or misled) by the powerful inner circle? We see many 'silver bullet' programs being released on an almost daily basis, each promising easy riches online with little or no effort. Ultimately these 'silver bullets' become less effective as the masses begin to follow the same system as everyone else. But as the masses chase these shiny objects, trying to make it online, do you ever hear of the 'big dog' marketers of the inner circles following these systems?

Why not? Why is it just the masses that seem to jump on these silver bullet products?

This is why you need to actually stop chasing every glossy, shiny, new product that is released and concentrate on the basic, but solid, foundations that have always worked and will always work. Instead of paying out hundreds of dollars or even thousands of dollars on every new system to hit the market, use that money to educate yourself in the solid foundations of Internet marketing.

Here is what you need to learn: (in no certain order)

1) Market Research: What are people buying, what kind of person buys a certain product and why

2) Keyword Research: What keywords are people using to find the products that they are looking for or which sites do they hang out at when they're talking about their interests.

3) Your Stage: How to create a website that you can use to sell your wares from whether that is your own product or an affiliate product.

4) Traffic: How to get traffic (real targeted people) to your website. There are so many ways of doing this and it is important that you educate yourself in all areas of traffic generation.

5) Conversion: How to turn a browsing visitor to your site into a paying customer. Traffic without conversion equals zero sales which means no money for you.

These are the five basics that you need. If you devote a week of your time to learning everything you can about these five subjects then you will be miles ahead of the people who are still hooked on buying every new product that is shown to them thinking that it will be the much sought after silver bullet.

If you block out all the hype of every new product that is launched and concentrate on the above then you will make much better tracks than 95% of everyone else who is trying to make a living online.
